50 Cal target rifles and Lever Release/MARS rifles in the Offensive Weapons Bill

Despite the number of MPs who expressed concern at the inclusion of .50 Cal target rifles and Lever Release/MARS rifles in the Offensive Weapons Bill, (none of which have been used in a crime and all of which are legally owned), the government appear to want to go ahead and prohibit these, based on no good evidence.

They are apparently using the recent Paul Edmunds case to conclude that all FAC and RFD holders have the potential to sell ‘dangerous weapons’ to criminals and terrorists. They are targeting .50 Cal and Lever Release/MARS rifles because there are not a lot of them in the country. If the Bill is passed in its current form, there is a possibility that the same thing is attempted with any military calibre rifle. To include legally-held target rifles with zombie knives and acid sprays is an insult to every FAC holder in this country and this must be made clear to the government. Signing the petition does not mean that you support the use of bump stocks, which have been correctly included in Bill.

The important thing is that the wording of the Bill is changed to remove legally-owned target rifles, which are obviously not offensive weapons. It is therefore imperative that you sign the following petition, ‘Remove articles 28-35 inclusive in chapter 6 of the offensive weapons bill’.
