A SELECTION OF VAA NATIONAL COMPETITIONS

.22 SPORTING RIFLE TANKARD

FIREARM: Any sporting .22 rifle max. weight: 7lb. No telescopic sights, aperture sights allowed.
RANGE: 25 m.              TARGET: 2 x N.S.R.A. Air 4.              POSITION: Any.
SHOTS: 7 at each target, best 5 to count. Team of 6 from each range. Time limit (supervised) of 30 seconds for each target. 1 minute allowed for reloading.

.303 SHIELD

FIREARM: Any rifle chambered for the .303 British cartridge.
RANGE: 200 m.           TARGET: PL7.            POSITION: Any.
SHOTS: 10, all to count. Original military issue sights as fitted only – target sights not allowed.

BOER WAR TROPHY

FIREARM: Any rifle, or reproduction thereof, in production before 1902 and deemed by the range officer to be conceivably available to combatants in the Boer War, 1899 to 1902.
RANGE: 300 m.            TARGET: NRA DP2.         POSITION: Any.        SHOTS: 10, all to count.

DONEGAL BADGE

FIREARM: Any rifle chambered for the .303 British cartridge.
RANGE: 200 m.             TARGET: PL7.              POSITION: Standing.
SHOTS: 10, all to count. Original military issue sights as fitted only – target sights not allowed.

JON DEWIS MEMORIAL CUP

FIREARM: Any vintage single shot or muzzle loading rifle, .45 calibre or above. 5 point start awarded for flintlock.
RANGE: 100 m.            TARGET: NRA DP2.           POSITION: Any unsupported.
SHOTS: 10, all to count.           SIGHTS: Open sights only, no aperture or optical.

THE HARRY HARMON TROPHY

FIREARM:  Any muzzle loading pistol having a minimum capacity of 5 shots, any calibre.
RANGE: 25 m.      TARGET: PL7.      POSITION: Standing. Starting from the 45-degree ready position. When shooting with a single hand hold the competitor may cock the pistol with their free hand.
SHOTS: Three timed series of 5 shots each. Course of fire as follows; Series 1 – 5 shots, single handed, unsupported, in 2 minutes 30 seconds. Series 2 – 5 shots, single or double handed, unsupported, in 30 seconds. Series 3 – 5 shots, single or double handed, unsupported, in 15 seconds.

ISANDHLWANA

FIREARM: Any rifle chambered for the .577/.450 Martini-Henry cartridge. Loads must be black powder only.
RANGE: 100 m.       TARGET: PL7        POSITION: Prone, unsupported, slings allowed.      SHOTS: 10, all to count.

MAJUBA HILL SHIELD

FIREARM: Any black powder breech loader in use by 27 Feb 1881, the battle of Majuba Hill. Loads must be black powder only.
RANGE: 300 m.         TARGET: NRA DP2.         POSITION: Any. SHOTS: 10, all to count.

MILITARY SNIPER TROPHY

FIREARM: Any full bore vintage rifle. Bipods and rests are allowed.
SIGHTS: Any. Telescopic (10X magnification maximum, not zoom) and aperture sights allowed.
RANGE: 600m.       TARGET: 300(95)2010        POSITION: Any.
SHOTS: 5 sighting shots. 10 shots on a clean competition target all 10 to count. (Open sights will be given a 5 point start).

RON HUMPHREY MEMORIAL

FIREARM: Any full bore rifle and any muzzle loaded pistol.
RANGE: 100 m Rifle, 25m Pistol.  TARGET: PL7 Rifle, VP3 Pistol.  POSITION: Rifle: prone. Pistol: standing, one-hand hold.      SHOTS: 13 from each gun; best 10 of each to count.

ROOK RIFLE

FIREARM: Any breech or muzzle loading rook rifle, including .310 Cadet but excluding.22RF. Aperture sights not allowed.          RANGE: 100 m.      TARGET: PL7.      POSITION: Any.

SERVICE PISTOL TROPHY

FIREARM: Any muzzle loaded revolver, 1 cylinder only.
RANGE: 25 m.      TARGET: VP3.       POSITION: Any. One-hand hold.
SHOTS: 12, all to count. Timed 5 minutes which must include one reloading of cylinder.

SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER

FIREARM: Any muzzle loaded single action revolver.
RANGE: 25 m.   TARGET: VP3.    POSITION: Standing, one hand hold.  SHOTS: Five from each hand, all 10 to count.

SNIDER TROPHY

FIREARM: Any single-barrelled rifle or carbine chambered for the .577 Snider cartridge.
RANGE: 100 m.      TARGET: PL7.      POSITION: Any.      SHOTS: 10, all to count, loads to be black powder only.

TEL – EL – KEBIR

FIREARM: Any black powder single shot rifle. Aperture sights not allowed.
RANGE: 300 m.      TARGET: 300 (95) 2010       POSITION: Any.       SHOTS: 13, best 10 to count.

VINTAGE PISTOL

FIREARM: Any muzzle loaded pistol or revolver.
RANGE: 25 m.      TARGET: VP3.      POSITION: Standing, one-hand hold.      SHOTS: 10, all to count.

VINTAGE .22 RIFLE

FIREARM: Any .22RF rifle. No aperture sights.
RANGE: 100 m.      TARGET: PL7.      POSITION: Prone, unsupported. Slings allowed.      SHOTS: 10, all to count

WINCHESTER TROPHY

FIREARM: Any full bore lever action repeating rifle or carbine.
RANGE: 100 m.            TARGET: PL7.        POSITION: Any.        SHOTS: 10, all to count.
